The WestJet Cares Initiative is a brand-new project launched in connection with the grand opening of the WestJet Elevation Lounge in Calgary International Airport on November 7th, 2020. This Initiative is designed to promote conversation through action, and thus our target audience for this initiative will be the entire customer base of WestJet and our employees and stakeholders, as everyone is vital for this project. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the mental health of everyone has suffered, so we at WestJet are trying to help ease the strain and burden of our customers and employees through the Elevation Initiative. The initiative will allow all customers and employees of WestJet to take advantage of the Elevation Lounge, free of charge, whenever travelling through Calgary, and mental health services will be provided to all employees throughout the organization, no matter where they are. Our goal is to get people talking about and working on their mental health, so a portion of every flight ticket booked through WestJet will be donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).
Our President Ed Sims, other key board members, and WestJet employees and customers will all be key spokespersons for the WestJet Cares blog campaign. All information related to the WestJet Cares Initiative will be published on the WestJet Blog as well as all of our other social media sites. All posts regarding the WestJet Cares Initiative will be made on a weekly basis, outlining what effect the initiative has had on customers and employees as well as how much money has been sent to the CMHA. As the effects of mental health has affected many people in different ways, this campaign will help build and strengthen WestJet’s reputation as an organization that cares about the mental health of its employees and customers.
